Mothers Against Drunk Driving

MADD Ohio

Serving residents of Ohio

Volunteering Opportunities

There are many ways you can help MADD Ohio. We need energetic, motivated individuals who want to keep alcohol impaired driver's off of Ohio’s roadways. No matter what your background, MADD probably has a volunteer opportunity for you. Being a grassroots organization means that we have to rely on volunteers to get the job done.

Leadership Positions

Local chapters need individuals with strong leadership abilities to serve as officers or to chair committees. You can join as a member and volunteer your time to serve as the president, vice president, treasurer or secretary.

Special Projects

Your skills are needed to coordinate one of the many public awareness programs sponsored by your local chapter. Some of the programs include:

· Project Red Ribbon -- a holiday awareness program to remind motorists not to drink and drive.

· Candlelight Vigil -- a solemn event to remember those who have lost their lives or sustained injuries due to an alcohol impaired driver.

· Prom/Graduation -- activities aimed at high school students to remind them to stay sober and stay alive.

Help is also needed with:

· Staffing information booths at county fairs and other special events.

· Doing media and public relations for the chapter.

· Coordinating parades.

· Raising funds to support our special projects.

Victim Advocacy

If you have a compassionate and caring heart, you might consider becoming a victim advocate and assisting victims of drunk driving crashes through the criminal justice system.

Clerical Assistance

Many MADD locations have offices within the community. If you possess clerical skills, you could help answer the phone, type, photocopy, prepare mailings and perform other general office duties.

Court Monitoring

If you have a few hours during the daytime, you can visit the local court rooms to monitor how DUI/DWI/OVI cases are handled by the criminal justice system in your community.

Public Speaking

If you have experience in public speaking, you can be educated about MADD's mission and goals so that you can help spread the word.

Special Skills or Interests

Do you have a special skill, such as computer graphic arts, business/management, special event planning, accounting or bookkeeping, writing, etc.? Your skills would be invaluable to help achieve our mission.

How Can You Get Started?

Write, call or email MADD National, MADD Ohio or your local office. Briefly explain your reason for volunteering for MADD, your previous volunteer experience, any special skills or training and the times you are interested in volunteering. Please list the names and phone numbers of two personal references. Don't forget to give your name, address, contact information, level of education and current occupation.
